Vivacious Molly's Vibrant Eats - On 12th, near the corner of Fairview Ave SE in Salem, OR
This place is fantastic - some of the funnest, most unique food in Salem, and delicious too.
The Bulgogi Wraps were great, a marinated treat that never disappoints.
The Mahi Mahi Wraps were fantastic - the tomatoes, mango, poblano pepper, and the red onion, with the cilantro and lime all teamed up and really drew out the flavor of the Mahi Mahi.
The Shrimp and Green Onion Pancake was fantastic as well - the dense pancake was more like a crepe, and the sweet richness of the shrimp combined with the green onion contrasted wonderfully with the earthy richness of the zucchini and carrots, it blew my taste buds away.

Wild Pineapple Grill and Coffee - On the corner of Howard and 13th St SE (north of Mission) in Salem, OR
I never paid any attention to this place because it looks like a budget coffee shop and I don't drink coffee. Then a coworker recommended their Kalua Pork to me so I gave it a try.
They have a rotating menu that offers different items on different days. I found their prices very reasonable and the Kalua Pork Rice Bowl filled me up. I'm a rice lover so I appreciate the difference between high quality and low quality rice. The rice in the Kalua Pork Rice Bowl was great - dense but fluffy. The pork was tender, sweet, and savory, not a ton of salt (which I appreciated).
I recommend this place. I will be going back to try the Poke!

Stone Front Tavern - On Commercial St. south of Kuebler Blvd in Salem, OR
Stone Front is more like good bar food than great pub food. I enjoyed my meal, it wasn't bad, but I was pretty unimpressed too. It was average at best, lacking in flavor and ingenuity, nothing unique. I doubt I will go back again.

Outlaw Grill and Catering - On Liberty Rd, just south of Browning Ave. in Salem, OR
In the parking lot of Liberty's Best Market & Deli
Greg, the guy that runs this food cart, has been in the business for about six years. He used to have a food cart over by Home Depot near the intersection of Lancaster and Hwy 22. This food cart is open from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm everyday but Sunday (unless the weather is extreme).
Yes, the menu is limited, but that is typical of any food cart. I had the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich and I enjoyed it very much. Greg opens the bun and grills it face down and then loads it with steak, cheese, sautéed onions, and mayonnaise. It's a simple but delicious combination and he does it very well. The sandwich is perfect for lunch - it left me full but not so full that I needed a nap. I recommend this food cart.

Big Town Hero - On Commercial St (across from Fred Meyer) in Salem, OR
Concerning the chain as a whole, the bread is typically pretty fresh, made every morning on site, I believe. The meats are not cut when you order, unfortunately, but they are still as fresh and flavorful as is reasonable to expect. Their panini selection is tasty enough, but way overpriced in my mind. No french fries, just chips, soups, cookies, and drinks. If you ask for a pickle, they will give you a spear at no extra cost.
The one in Salem used to be a lot better. It's still OK, but not as good as it used to be with the last owners. The new owner seems to be more "business-minded" and less about customer satisfaction. He seems to be learning though. The size of the sandwiches are starting to get a little bigger again and they are tasting better.
One time I watched an employee drop some packaged meat on the floor, pick it up, and put it on the cutting board. True, it was packaged, but now he has transferred what was on the floor to the cutting board, where he proceeded to make a sandwich... I was displeased, to say the least. Ever heard of cross-contamination there kiddo?? But I guess there's a price to be paid for hiring cheap labor/high school kids.

I used to eat at the Monmouth store regularly while I was attending WOU. The quality is consistently good, the service was very fast, and the employees were all very nice. They went out of their way to remember who I was and make pleasant conversation while I decided what I wanted to eat.

I've been to the one in Lebanon a few times, usually on the way back from cutting firewood down south. It may be my favorite of the three I've been to. The one in Monmouth, however, is a close second.
