Wild Pineapple Grill and Coffee - On the corner of Howard and 13th St SE (north of Mission) in Salem, OR
I never paid any attention to this place because it looks like a budget coffee shop and I don't drink coffee. Then a coworker recommended their Kalua Pork to me so I gave it a try.
They have a rotating menu that offers different items on different days. I found their prices very reasonable and the Kalua Pork Rice Bowl filled me up. I'm a rice lover so I appreciate the difference between high quality and low quality rice. The rice in the Kalua Pork Rice Bowl was great - dense but fluffy. The pork was tender, sweet, and savory, not a ton of salt (which I appreciated).
I recommend this place. I will be going back to try the Poke!

Sunny's Burger & Teriyaki - On Cherry Ave, just north of Salem Pkwy in Keizer, OR
This little shop opened in January 2014 sometime, so it's still pretty new. The people are very nice, a middle aged man and a woman. They serve a mixture of Japanese, Korean, and American dishes. For the amount of food that you get, and the quality of the food, their prices are very reasonable - the Spicy Pork Teriyaki costs just under $9 and I got two meals out of it, my friend got three meals out of it.
The Bulgogi was very good, it comes on a bed of cabbage and carrots, topped with green onions, with two portions of white rice, a tempura prawn, some orange slices and a side salad. It was $12, which made me hesitate, but again, the price tag reflected real value (I got two meals out of this dish). It was prepared very well, the cabbage was not overcooked and the meat was prepared very well. I always ask for the sweet chili sauce for whenever I eat Bulgogi (make sure to ask for it here, it's free but they don't include it automatically).
The Spicy Pork Yakisoba was very good as well. Even my friend, who is very critical of food, enjoyed it and looks forward to going back soon. Spice wise, it has enough kick to get your attention, but not so much that you can't enjoy the food - it's a nice happy medium if you eat spicy food regularly, if not, it may be too much for you.

Momiji - On Commercial (across from Fred Meyer) in Salem, OR
The only thing I've had here is lunch-special bento boxes. They are very reasonably priced and the great thing about bento boxes is the variety - you get a little of a few things instead of a lot of one thing. The food is pretty good and the service is great. The last time we went, the server came within a minute or two, brought us our drinks and soup a few minutes later, and by the time we finished our soup, we had our food. Granted, the place wasn't very busy, so if you go when they are busy, you may or may not get your food as quickly.

Mashita Teriyaki 5 - In the industrial area (near Yeon) of NW Portland, OR
For what it is, it is good. What is it? It is inexpensive Japanese food. This isn't SanSai or Yama Sushi's competitor, so it shouldn't be compared to them. This place's customer base is mostly people that work at tile stores and shipping yards, etc. These people want fast, cheap, and reasonably good food. That's what they get. To me, the food hits the mark.

Sushi Takahashi 2 - On SW 5th, downtown and just south of I-405 in Portland, OR
I was pretty unimpressed with this place. My brother took me here. He said it's cheap and good. He was right about one, it's cheap. The presentation was pretty good, but it was all pretty tasteless. A lot of the seafood seemed like it was still thawing. The seared salmon and the calamari were probably the best of the bunch. Not good enough to make me want to go back though. Sushi Land and Sushiville are better than this place, and there are a lot of places better than them. The place seemed kind of grimy too, which wouldn't bother me too much if the food tasted fresh and delicious, but given that it didn't, it was just another strike against the place.

BiBim Bap House - Downtown on Chemeketa St NE in Salem, OR
Wow! Fantastic Korean food!
Dol Sot BiBim Bap is a Korean dish served in an extremely hot stone bowl. The empty bowl is coated with sesame oil and then the rice is added. The extreme heat makes a thin layer of rice touching the bowl crispy. You mix all of the ingredients together and the heat from the bowl cooks the raw egg. Pieces of crispy rice is mixed in with everything else and makes it a really unique dish.
In addition to the deliciousness of the meal, they also brought us complimentary appetizers and oranges for dessert. The staff was very friendly, the place was clean, and the prices of the lunch specials were great (especially considering what you get). This is one of my very favorite places to eat at in Salem.

Yama Sushi & Sake Bar - On the corner of NW Lovejoy and 10th in Portland, OR
It's not cheap, but it's well worth the price tag! The food is delicious and the presentation is very well done. This place is clean, professional, classy, and the service is great. They prepare the sushi right there when you order it so that you know it's fresh and it's always interesting to watch. If you want cheap sushi, there's plenty of that around. If you want delicious Japanese food, this is a great spot.

Yummy Bowl - On Commercial St SE in Salem, OR
A mix of Chinese and Japanese menu items. I really like the General Tso's a lot. Unfortunately, I didn't like the Yakisoba with Chicken very much. The quality of the dish wasn't bad, I just didn't like the flavor. I think they put honey in it and it didn't work for me. Super great prices, especially on their lunch specials, and the place is really clean.

House of Teriyaki II - SE corner off exit 283 in Wilsonville, OR
Pretty good teriyaki, nothing amazing though. I wouldn't make a special trip for it, but I would go back if I was in the area. It's a clean place, the people are nice, and the food is reasonably priced.

Love Teriyaki - Near Fry's in Wilsonville, OR
I was able to eat it, but I won't go back. It really wasn't very good at all. House of Teriyaki is across the street and is so much better, though not amazing itself. If that wasn't an option, I would drive to another town before going back to Love Teriyaki.

Yelp
Yang's Teriyaki Plus - At the south end of WOU campus, near Main St in Monmouth, OR
I used to go here almost daily as a student. The food here is cheap and yummy, which are the two things that most college students look for. The staff is super friendly and they have been around for a while. All of this makes Yang's a sort of a legend among students.
The menu items come in two sizes, large and small. I always get the small, because the large is huge.
