Donut-o-ramaFood carts on 9th and Washington to 10th and Alder in Portland, OR

(This place is on the corner of 10th and Alder)

Closed

Most people in Portland would go to Voodoo if they wanted a delicious donut, myself included. However, if you don’t want to wait in the Voodoo line and/or you are already at the 9th and Washington carts, and you want a good donut, this place is a worthwhile stop. They are more expensive than what you will get at a Safeway, but they are also better. I had the Peanut Butter and Jelly donut and it was warm, soft, and delicious.

(This place is on Washington)

This cart as appropriately named the Noodle House!! I love the noodles here, let alone the rest of the soup. It was a scrumptious lunch that was filling, seemingly healthy, and inexpensive. I will definitely go back, and not just because I want to try their rice dishes. If all their plates are as good as the soup, then this place will be a regular stop for me.

Rotissol and Greens - Food carts on 9th and Washington to 10th and Alder in Portland, OR

(This Place is on 9th)

This food cart is legit!! I love Cubano sandwiches and I try them whenever I see them on a menu. This one is at the top of my list. The only Cubano that I enjoyed more was in the Miami area. This was the perfect amount of food – full but not so full I was sick. Plus you can stroll over to the park across the street to sit and eat and enjoy Portland. The problem with some of the other carts is that there is nowhere to sit and eat. I will go back and try their other sandwiches for sure.

Breken Kitchen - in NW Portland, OR

This place is your typical yuppie coffee shop. Everyone in here uses a Mac laptop or an iPhone. It’s humorous, as far as I’m concerned. The staff here is very nice, and the ambiance is bright and happy. If kids in the lunch-room bother you when you are eating, this may not be for you because there is a preschool/daycare place across the road and there always seems to be at least one mom with kids in there. This also may not be where you want to go if you are in a hurry. However, the food is very good and I feel like I've had a healthy lunch when I’m done.

Camas Thai - On the corner of NE 5th Ave and Birch in Camas OR

Camas is a cute little Northwest town in Washington with a smell to it that is in no way cute. However, the smell doesn’t bother me as much as it apparently does my family and friends. I like watching the smoke stacks because they remind me of David Lynch’s TV show Twin Peaks. Whenever I’m passing through, I like to stop at Camas Thai. Their all-day specials are inexpensive, but still really delicious and I’m always full when I’m done. I recommend this place, and I will go back for sure.

Taste of Village Chinese - in Troutdale, OR

I was a little nervous when I walked into this place. There is a funky smell inside and the woman that greeted me obviously either did not love her job, or was not having a great day. However, I got my food fast, she refilled my drink before the first one was gone, the food was pretty good, and there was plenty of it. I wouldn’t tell anyone to rush out to eat here, but if you are in Troutdale for some strange reason, and you want some Chinese food, I would say this place is ok.

Slabtown Ribs & BBQ - NW Portland, OR

I don’t have a lot to say about this place, pretty good BBQ and friendly staff. I got my food quickly, I was full when I finished, and it was reasonably priced. I thought the meat was cooked well and I liked the way it was cut. I don’t eat a lot of BBQ, so I won’t be rushing back, but I would take friends here if that’s what they were in the mood for.

Sawasdee - NW food carts (NW 19th & Quimby) in Portland, OR

A little crop of food carts popped up in a parking lot near my office, and this is one of them. I like Thai food, and this place was no exception. It wasn’t phenomenal, but it was still really good and I will go back. I would go back just because they cooked my tofu “right,” or at least the way I like it. It was reasonably priced (about as much as almost every Portland food cart) and quick. Hit it up if you are in the neighborhood.

Mekong - Sellwood/Moreland area (SW 13th ave) in Portland, OR

Sellwood is a really cool part of town with lots of cool little places to eat and things to do. There are little neighborhoods that explode into centers of fun. I was really excited to try Mekong because I like Vietnamese food. Unfortunately it wasn’t as good as I had hoped. It was good and the food was fresh, but I expected more. I will go back to try the Phở because the bowl was huge and the broth smelled really good. I’ll let you know how it goes.
